I dont know, looks like invitations catch them more off guard, and then they resign. It's "fair", tell them this!
Previously, the challenge seek was clear. Players knew what they pick, but a challenge hand selected (invite) seems to camoflage what I seek. Not my fault they accept, but previously, all players who accepted my open challenge knew what the time controll is, and thus dont resign at move 3 (when they notice its a slower game).
They should not sandbag and resign after three moves of course. Luckily, there already are restrictions in place against that type of behavior as well

honestly, to seek handselected invites to then chose white and play rated is circumventing the issue. So if it is allowed handselected (by invite) why isnt it in any other mode?

Obviously the impact of these players on the fair group is far less if they have to seek people that are willing to participate. They are protecting people that are taken advantage of, which is a fantastic move

and is that valid if I want to play black, too? cant chose black right now, too...

I select play as Black a lot, to practice my Black openings. Please bring back this function to allow selecting Black, random or White. As others have said, displaying the selections for Black or White but having them greyed out doesn't make sense.

It is true, you can simply see this in the code. Good on Lichess for weeding out this flaw

Yes, it should work both ways of course! This update is about making things fair, that should work both ways.

In such case, turn auto off and bring back color select rather than this despotic nonsense.

This is a much better solution. Now it is fair by default, and you can seek people who are willing to play your odds at your leisure
