nt elevation because someone always plays white. I get, you guys dont understand how ratings work. You can not boost your rating more and more with always playing white, because your rating is already 22 points higher because you always play white (or 22 lower because you always play black).
I feel your response was emotionally charged. It seems your reaction might have been influenced by other discussions or posts.
To clarify, I never mentioned rating points or playing exclusively with white. My focus was on the existence of a "standard" way chess is taught and played, which is a valid observation.
Extreme examples, whether online or over the board, can be interesting, but they don't necessarily invalidate the concept of a standard approach. It's helpful to acknowledge both the norm and the exceptions.

And I think in your case it would be fair if you would be allowed to choose. Unfortunately, there are people here that have abused it by playing thousands of rated games with white and 0 with black. It is because of them that these kinds of features can not be allowed, as they use it against fair people in rated games. I think only allowing it in casual games would be a good idea

There is a tendency in many states in the world to to say, what people have to do. Its a pity, that lichess participate in that antidemocratic movement! I prefer to be free in choosing the colour of my game. Everyone on this platform is free to decide, whether he will play with my chosen white or black opening or not!
Yes. Thank you.

Yes you wrote some stuff, doesn't make it true. Invitations are a fair way to go to. Having some people resign early in invited games just means they are sandbagging and should be thrown out

If Lichess won't allow players to choose their side in casual games, I'll switch to chess.com. It's ridiculous that they no longer let users train with their preferred color!!!

Absolutely! For instance, I prefer to play chess using checker pieces and launch them towards my opponent with a golf club. I believe I should be permitted to do this at my local chess club. However, those tyrants refuse to accommodate my unique style...

You are 3100 rated games with white, and 73 with black. People like you are the entire reason that these restrictions have to be imposed and ruin a perfectly fine feature for fair players
