Can't create game with specific side any more

If Lichess won't allow players to choose their side in casual games, I'll switch to chess.com. It's ridiculous that they no longer let users train with their preferred color!!!

Loool guess that's not what you used it for though kiddo, you used to in the exact way people have been talking about it here: abusing it in rated games to artificially inflate rating

Absolutely! For instance, I prefer to play chess using checker pieces and launch them towards my opponent with a golf club. I believe I should be permitted to do this at my local chess club. However, those tyrants refuse to accommodate my unique style...

These same tyrants won't even allow me to use stockfish to analyze my moves mid-game and adjust my strategy based on the engine's recommendation... It's like we're in Nazi-Germany.

Everyone saw on the playdesk, that the player wanted for example white. Noone was forced to play with him! Where is the problem! The problem are those people who want to decide, what I have to do, those people who cant accept personal freedom!

I think for rated games, random side is fine...but why take away the color options for casual games when you're trying to work on certain openings/setups?

You can still choose your side there, except you have to play with a friend in order to do it. Which makes sense for training purposes.
Also, the reason is that one account should have equal games with white and black, and if you only play white eg. then the moment you start choosing 'random side' again it will keep giving you black to balance it out. And then you will complain anyway.
And if you forever play only white.... Well, you see the problem.

Since the removal of the feature of color choosing, if it happens that i start with white in a game, i am observing more games where i do my move, and have to waste 25 seconds as the opponent has intention to abort the game.

May be giving a -1 score to people aborting the game immediately, and -25 to people wasting 25 seconds for the game to be aborted could be a deterrent?
