What is the correlation between IQ and chess?

@ petri You've only managed to make it seem all the more dubious to me. ;)

@Anti_Matter37331 And you can't improve your IQ. By definition, it (allegedly) defines your intelligence.

But then again, it looks like maybe you have stumbled across a resource to improve yours... ;)

IQ does improve at young age. Not by playing chess but havig safe stable environment good food. Enough education and such. For oldies like us methods of anti_matter might be the only ones

You can improve IQ by practicing IQ tests. As there is no accurate methods for accessing IQ, all IQ scores are judged by crappy IQ tests ( in which you can improve by doing more maths, pattern recognition, learning English etc)

@drmrboss Nope, extensive testing has shown that iq test are robust i.e taking test several times results in similar results. There can some learnign if you have not done similar problems in past for your second test

I was a hardworking student in Math, I think I can answer,

A+ B+2C = 140
2A + 2B = 100 ( So A+B= 50)

So, 2C= 140-50=90, C=45

3A+B= 90, So 2A= 40, A= 20

So, B = 30

Answer= 30+20+45+30= 125

So the IQ means who are hardworking in maths , language and pattern recognition etc.

Why should you assume the operation is "+" ?
You could perfectly assume it is "x" (or any other operator).

In the case of "x", for example, you get
a = 3; b = 10/3; c = square root(14) and the value of first row = (100 x square root(14)) / 3

Is the IQ related on how we use assumptions to complete incomplete problem data ?
Formally, the problem is incorrect, it can have multiple solutions

@drmrboss reasoning is important only to point there is mearuments. And there are measurements that repeat testing does not help. If you still want reason something it shoudl on lines 'why does not training help on IQ' not whether it helps. And math skills do have correlation to IQ. Most reliable tests do not use numeric tests. Mensa test you can see online not the same ones used for admittance. for starters it lot longer
