Can't create game with specific side any more

oh in which case I think it would be quite reasonable to bring it back with the condition i thought was there. I have the memory of creating a challenge with a random colour when someone had a fixed colour challenge to see if I would be paired. If I recall correctly I was not. How do you know random challenges were paired with fixed challenges?

It's in the source code

what about the white/black switch, btw?

I think it is coming back, the change reverted. The side effects - aborting games - is a real problem. Dont forget, we all have one thing in common: we like to play chess. Banning people who are no cheaters is a step to drastic, I dont like it.

Maybe the quick-fix (2 lines of code) is not good enough.
An option button that enables players like bedecentforachange to not get paired against players who chose black/white instead of random color.

I do think players who prefer to play white only (or black only) should be able to do so.
Nobody is forced to play someone who creates a challenge see with white only. If that was the case, then that would not be right. But it isnt the case, so that is a purely hypothetical question.

Now @BeDecentForAChange : you keep saying that if you chose automatches, the opponent has opted for white, thus you get black. But how do you opt for white in automatches? That's not possible, I think?

And if I am doint an open challenge like 9min+15sec increment rapid game with the black colour - how does this forces you to accept my open challenge seek? As far as I see it, you are not forced to play against me.

People are also banned for sandbagging, which is not cheating. Are you proposing only engine use is resulting in a ban

Nobody is forced to play someone who creates a challenge see with white only.
People were forced to play people who seek white only. Your suggestion means that an entire lobby needs to be built by someone to accommodate this change so that white-only players are only paired against black-only players. That's going to be a very small pool. It could work, but waiting times may be very long.
I also think Thibault mentioned in an article that he prefers fewer features rather than more if the effort does not justify the cost of development and upkeep.
You could build it and open a pull request to the Lichess Github repo, but you may get rejected if the potential upkeep is too expensive

If that was the case, then that would not be right. But it isnt the case, so that is a purely hypothetical question.

.No..... if you pick white, and I pick random side, we are matched. This means we play 50 games, I get white 0 times, even though I'm opting in to play fairly.

And if I am doint an open challenge like 9min+15sec increment rapid game with the black colour - how does this forces you to accept my open challenge seek? As far as I see it, you are not forced to play against me

I may not be playing that time control, but this means that if someone else plays at this time control, he gets an unfair disadvantage.
