As a former liga-player (2200) I see the platform from another point. Now,84 years old, I cant stand long matches and fear computerusers, who in reality cant be controlled!!! That is fact! Therfore-as I still like to play-I use short-games (2/1 and 3/0). Im not fast enough, but I dont mind with my rating of 1500-1700. I believe, its not that important in a gamehall, where I can play for fun with the colour I prefer. Noone need to accept my offer! Everyone is free to decide that. But here a many players who think, that they can decide what others have to do! Unfortunately it is a tendency in our community. And that is-in my mind-not good.

Wrong, people did not have this option as they were paired against the abusers automatically. The system is made fair now, you can invite and accept games in which you have choice of color all you want.

So actually it is made in your philosophy now: people can be free to decide if they agree to these terms now in stead of it being forced on them! This change embraces your wish for people to actually be free in their choice in stead of having others force them into unfair matchmaking

14265 games, only 1600 black. Abused it extremely

Found it now ... How can you know, if he aborted games abusive or asked for a him playing white game?

He can meet stronger black players on all his ratings?

Aborted games don't count towards played games. The numbers are quite clear on this, 13k vs 1.6k

Yes, and if he asked for his white games?
Why do you want to press him to play black?

Man that is a great argument! Lichess actually made a freedom of choice enhancement, and the only people that are complaining are the ones that now can not force others to do what they want, only the willing ones.
So they're not crying about a choice being taken away from them, they're upset that their opponent now actually has the choice to refuse!

If he invited those people to play him with white, there should be no reason for him to be upset, because that option actually remains :)

So if these 13000 games with white were all by invite, nothing changed for him or the people that agreed to play him under these conditions. :D

Only if he forced others to play him at a disadvantage for 13000 games, is he now forced to play them fairly

The invitation for a white or black game in lobby is not possible any longer. Of course he was allowed to use this function before. There was no limit and he did not win all games.

It is a big change to invite directly or in lobby.

In lobby, you are automatched as well. This means that people did not have the chance to refuse playing under unfair conditions. So, he abused the feature at the expense of others.

Now, you have the option to play people under these conditions if they actually agree to it

Why are they making this change? At least give me some reasonings behind it. Upsetting a bunch of your users for what?

How can I practice my openings now? Sitting through a bunch of unrelated games or just aborting til I get the color I want?
