I think it's a whole lot of work to build an entire lobby feature around a few people that only want to play with one color. There is no good reason for people not to play both sides, and it would be a waste of the time and cost it takes to develop these features.
I think you're wrong. Or wishfully trolling. No need for a new lobby just a simple function reduction with no new costs.

Yes, this is the cumbersome small pool I mentioned but you already know that.

No, I am definitely right. To accommodate you, people would have to adjust the lobby and matchmaking, as well as user preferences to only expose people that explicitly consent to this. That needs to be built and tested first. Then it needs to be implemented on the mobile apps as well. That needs to be maintained, and the UI needs to be adjusted for that.

There are 130 bots you can choose from, and at this moment 77k players online. The Lichess Discord server has 3k members online at the moment. As you know fully well, there are plenty of people to invite, no need to build around you :)

sounds like a war-story kind narration, not necessarily reflecting any part of reality ;]

I might not know lichess.org menu that good - where can I see the list of those players?

No cost involved if you leave it like it is. no change, no cost. The feature white/black worked well.
@BeDecentForAChange: and the paragraph starting "wrong..." you need to read again, then you would not say wrong. you start talking against s.th. I never said.

And yet it is accurate, as this is how I would develop it looking at the code repos. If it's that much easier, I would be more than happy to hear about your implementation suggestion.

This is annoying. I use this feature an awful lot to test particular openings with casual games. It's like Lichess has become 50% less efficient for me overnight.

Thank you benedictine! I have the similar feeling!

Just wonder why Lichess is not communicating the concrete reason of this change?
