Why is it that Chess.com charges money for the basically the same features as Lichess?

I ain't sure but doesn't chess.com like have a thing where you lose time as soon as you start a game, atleast on lichess you have some time when you start a game, and when you make your first move, then the clock actually starts, like can you believe what a headache people have when having bad internet playing blitz on chess. com? bruh. And their fair play system is like so rigged.

Because chesscom is proprietary crapware. Lichess is open source at its best.

I did not read the whole thread. But as a long time supporting member on chess.com. Chess.com is a great site in my opinion. I started playing bullet and left them for this s*#t . But the tactic trainer on chess.com is what I paid for.

Lichess has way way better "web" design, and that is not something they can ignore. So they copy.. as they probably should. Lichess should ceep their eye on their users. Figure out a way to monitize and not bee whores.. simply, win by superior product and knowledge

@ThomasHH it's not just the web design that's better with Lichess. Pretty much everything is better here; as I was saying, Lichess is open source at its best. They can try copying the design of Lichess all they want, but as long as chesscom is proprietary closed source, it's also crapware. The strength of Lichess is spelled OPEN SOURCE, and that's why chesscom will always remain behind Lichess in user experience.

Hell, yesterday I even uninstalled Chessmaster from my laptop, because what do you need Chessmaster for when you have Lichess? :)

I spent more money on lichess than chess.com... you can play on chess.com for free if you don't need certain features...just use an add blocker.

@RangerGeek50 Lichess has a much better (and simpler) UI and more variants. And, you have to pay for 20-depth computer analysis on chess.com, but it is free on lichess.

I admit that lichess is easier to navigate. That's why I do my analyzing on lichess, but chess.com has a much better analysis board. @SavageAntarctican
