@RangerGeek50 What do you mean chess.com has a better analysis board? Lichess's analysis board is at least as good, and in fact, better because you get access to the ENTIRE opening explorer FOR FREE rather than only like the first 5 or 6 moves (like on chess.com, unless you pay)
Also does chess.com have bots? No

My answer to the title of this thread is chess.com does not have "basically the same features as Lichess" Chess.com has better features and is just a better site in general.

Let's put it this way, if you pay, then chess.com is a million times better than lichess. @SavageAntarctican

And the analysis board is better.
And the analysis board is better.
As for why chess.com is not free, chess.com needs to pay to run the site, make good artticles, lessons, videos.

@RangerGeek50 If you pay, chess.com is slightly better than lichess. If you don't pay, it's way worse.
Also, chess.com does not have bots.

Can some mod just close this thread? I feel like we don't need to argue anymore.

@RangerGeek50 who cares about videos man, we're here to play chess, not watch tutorials. If I wanted to do that, I'd watch YouTube clips of chess nerds discussing famous chess games or something. That's not the reason why chesscom has a monthly subscription fee (and a hefty one at that). The reason is because chesscom is a for-profit business, which is why chesscom's software is proprietary closed source. It's not that I can't afford paying for their subscription, but I donate to Lichess instead because I believe in open source software. Lichess is a far superior chess website because Lichess is non-profit and open source. Only reason why chesscom is the biggest chess website is thanks to its domain; that's the only thing it has going for it. Other than that, Lichess is a far superior chess experience.
