Why is it that Chess.com charges money for the basically the same features as Lichess?

In my opinion Chess.com is more of a business it cares about money more than the players that is it's number one goal is to making money by putting a paywall to use certain features they are discriminating against people who cannot afford it lichess.org does not charge people for their features Lichess.org is more user friendly and has less toxicity they do not try and censor people in forums like chess.com do it is like in star wars the Rebels are Lichess.org and Chess.com is the Empire
@RangerGeek50 , chess.com has good features not related to playing chess.

Better chick profiles, better clubs and forums to flart chicks. And a bit better on videos and news.

In term of playing live chess, lichess has way lower lag, less chance of freezing, much faster and deeper computer analysis.

Oh, wait, I can't even mention about lichess on chess.com.
@drmrboss Chess.com has: Puzzle rush, puzzle battle, lessons, 4-player chess, articles, ORIGINAL videos and more! All of which lichess doesn't have. Are those not related to chess? If you've never been on chess.com, please stop saying things which are untrue and disrespectful.
learning chess should be free: also lichess is nonprofit I only play on lichess. I've only heard that people improve on both sites and I ask you a question: would you rather improve by paying or improve for free?

you also must understand that some people do not have the money for the membership.

I think the reason chess.com is in this debate is because it has a reputation and it is old, meaning it got a lot of members before lichess was a thing. Thats kind of why ICC is still known even though nobody every uses it anymore. Also the sponsor a lot of events so new chess player will hear about them first. Chess.com has a lot of tools for beginners but better players know about the benefits of lichess(less lag, free puzzles , free everything). Take the median rating for example. On lichess its around 1500 but on chess.com its only like 800-1000.
