I think the better you get, the more you realize how much you actually suck at chess. It is as if, the stronger the player, the clearer they can see the big picture... the metaphorical mountain that is chess improvement/chess playing strength. I am not surprised at all that a 2300 says he is horrible. I am 2200 rapid and classical on lichess and I know full well that I am a terrible chess player. I am simply less terrible than the vast majority of other chess players, but still atrocious.

surpass 1900 fide ELO, with some luck maybe get the national master title
@edit
national master title here allows you to pay only 50% in any tournament, that would be good

Relax. I've seen a few good players who say they're pretty bad at chess. The famous chess YouTuber Gothamchess is one good example. He's an IM and has said that he's trash. These kinds of people see it in a way others don't and they actually know what they're talking about. Come to think of it, 2200s are nothing compared to top level chess players whom they look up to, so it's just natural for them to think they're bad
Nah, they're mostly seeking attention. They know their audience is nowhere close to their level. It would've been fine to say this in front of a panel of GMs. They know very well that they're much better than an average viewer, otherwise they wouldn't make/sell courses. I don't see the point of publicly claiming to be bad at chess when your rating clearly indicates whatever your strength may be. The only reason I can think of is "to seek attention". I am not saying it's wrong, it's a pretty common trait among streamers and celebrities.

My new year’s resolution is to be an aspiration to my school’s chess club. I want to be able to give chess lessons in the horde variant this year to make money for myself and the club... not that I know how to set that up. Anyways happy new year! This account will be a time capsule as my rating is 2023, matching with the year.

#37 You talk a lot of sense but in this case I have to say Raptor-5 doesn’t owe anyone an apology. I personally just thought that it was funny to come across a 2300 saying that they suck. Pretty sure usefriendly felt the same away.

@r_aCe I think you've slightly misevaluated the situation. In my opinion, "userfriendly2" is not the one who got offended here. He just said whatever he felt was implied from Raptor-5's statement. He probably commented it to make others laugh, nothing else. "Raptor-5" probably got offended at userfriendly2's interpretation of his comment (which he probably took as an insinuation). That's why he had to write a long paragraph to defend himself. Therefore, Raptor-5 doesn't owe an apology.

In 2023, I will be ...
- ... working with my opening repertoire;
- ... remaining happy with my results;
- ... trying out new openings;
- ... viewing more chess openings;
- ... improving my mode swings by not responding to toxic chats or toxic forum posts;
- ... getting fit to play better;
- ... taking breaks, by getting off my chair more often;
- ... trying to balance my tempos in chess;
- ... chilling-out by playing only increment timed games;
- ... going for walks to play OTB.
As long as I complete any one of the above, I'll be more happy with my chess games, then in 2022.
