On promoting more pawns: not necessarily all of them, but it can be easier to promote a couple and then mate with 2 queens than try to find the best way to mate with what is currently on the board, avoiding stalemates at the same time. Even though it's more moves to promote the pawns, you can pre-move the pawn pushes and so you're not using up your clock time.
I don't normally report. The player who was rated a lot lower than me but played far better didn't appear to be using assistance but it might be a shared account, or he might have sandbagged previously to get the lower rating. The one who was my own rating and played far worse may have made one silly bad blunder then "given up" when it came to the rest...
