Yes, I've gotten frustrated at chesstempo's alternate solutions. At least they dont mark you wrong for them, but they say "Good move, but computer has found a better one". Its a great site for calculation. If you find an alt that would win, feel good that you would win that game in real life, and then calculate harder to find the best solution.

ref doublebanzai "...lichess negatives: corresp. chess is poorly supported here, it's hard to get games, and there are no tournaments for corresp. chess. long time control classical chess also seems unpopular here........hard to get games.
note: since i play long classical chess only, no variants, my observations reflect what i personally prefer...."
I would agree with you there on the above. The ease to get games, would give Chess.com, the slight edge for my attention.

Lichess is way better I think

Have posted the Question "..Chess.com or Lichess.. ? " on the Chess.com forums several hours ago. It was blocked within minutes. At least that didn't happen here for the same question. Thus Lichess seems not to be as heavily "..censored.." as Chess.com. Lichess probably regulated with regards to its own posting guidelines and mods etc, but at least Lichess let you talk about similar / rival / competing sites. Healthy discussion is to be applauded . . .

By the way, in the commercial chess forum I am mod (German‘s biggest, at least it used to be) there would be no extensive discussions about other chess forums as well. It belongs to a company which owns say 100 forums and it is their job. Yeah, right, they make money with exactly that business and they don’t discuss the competitors. If there‘s some advertising („Bally-Hoo-Chess forum is way better“) we close or hide it from public.
Love it or leave it.

Perfectly legitimate way to run a business. If negative reviews are placed on the website of any company they are quite entitled in all ways to remove them.Very often it is competitors putting up bad reviews for obvious reasons.

One would say that if you are truly confident of the quality you deliver (see lichess) you wouldn't have to censor competition (like chess.com). And seems strange to me that now no one talks about ICC which in my opinion stands above chess.com

In my personal experience, I play over there because there is a much higher probability of being paired with titled players and cheaters tend to be dealt with much faster (likely just a result of manpower and slightly more refined detection as a result of major investment). That isn't to say that I don't appreciate those without titles who have climbed the ratings to such an extent but in that top 500 pool, I find it increasingly important to have some sort of insurance that I'm not wasting my time since I tend to only play 10 games a day at this point. I closed my main account here over a year ago because it was getting a bit ridiculous. I've found the community there to be a bit less accepting (I even had a GM yesterday who was rather accusatory and didn't care to check how many years my account had been in good standing). At any rate, I'll always come here for the camaraderie, even if I get a better playing experience elsewhere.

#79 I'll second that. I play here and there, but at my level its hard to get a decent game of 15 mins. Its all 3 min and 5 min here. (Look at the tournaments and see how many there are over 10 mins). There just isn't much rapid over 10 mins and even the 10 mins are somewhat rare. I'll put up a challenge and either I wait a super long time or get someone way lower than me. But over there is a lot easier to get a game and with someone close to my rating.
Also the fact that they have a 'premium' account level is good because the premiums are less likely to be cheaters. (But they ban premium cheaters also). I do want to say also that you can play for free on that site as well. Its not like you have to pay in order to play.
I love lichess but both sites are great in their way (IMO).
