Oof, losing after being a queen up... that pain hits different. Those slow losses where you see it slipping away are sometimes worse than quick blunders. Glad you stuck with it though!

@Tpchc
The 2050 barrier sounds like your personal boss fight right now! We've all got that one rating milestone that keeps dancing just out of reach. You'll break through it soon!

Love this attitude! Sometimes the best part of chess isn't even the game itself ; it's the conversations and connections we make along the way. Those rating numbers come and go, but good chess friendships last

What’s the hardest lesson chess ever taught you?
Competitive chess is mental torture, so rather than continue to support US Chess / FIDE and their inherent corruption and monopoly, I retired from competitive chess.
I hear "FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships 2025 to be Held in Doha, Qatar"... a country where human rights abuses and related fatalities are common.
More than 400 migrant workers died in Qatar in the years leading up to the World Cup, the man in charge of the body responsible for organizing the tournament has said, reigniting a debate over the treatment those who built over $200 billion worth of structures for the tournament.

I felt your problem of chess.
But according to me, It was even more worst that I tried to select for Asians for 3 years and I missed half points (1/2) in every year.
2023 U11- points 4/6 (selected from 4.5)
2024 U13- points 4/6 (selected from 4.5)
2024/2025 U13- points 4.5/6 (selected from 5)
I hoping in this year at last to select Asans as however I had selected for super 30 in Asian Selection Sri Lanka! (as I got 4.5 points)

Wow, @Zhrakos
You wrote great.... I enjoy all of your sentences... As if you was writing about my chess life...
I liked your existentialist thought in the article.
Best wishes

@Zhrakos, chess taught me that I could perhaps enjoy chess more than Carlsen even without having his great place; who knows?!!!

Gosh, OTB I too lost to a 12-year-old who ended my tournament career, but you don't hear me whining about it.

@Toadofsky Congrats on your superior emotional resilience! Looks like we've all got our chess battlefield stories.
