Regium: Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence

If the technology worked, there would be no need to launch a lawsuit they would just make a better video. The fact that they went this route is proof in itself.
Well, friends, I'm afraid i'm not very familiar with the kickstarter scam scene, but I guess it's just like any other big platform (e.g ebay, amazon), don't they have the logic that if the product is a scam then they refund the contributors? otherwise I guess it could have been a much more frequent thing. Anyway, Thanks Lichess for the heads-up, this sure will be clearer very soon thanks to all this exposure.

Scams are really interesting though. the latest two 'scams' I know of which made good stories are:

Juicero:

Fyre music festival:

Happy reading!
@kokkko
How does chess.com's statement differ in any way from what Thibault from lichess wrote? Content is exactly the same, with different wording. On top of that, the findings that chess.com is referring to (e.g. the AI-faces) were uncovered in this forum right here.

"We have seen many red flags in the conduct of Regium and the promotion of their new e-board. We have our doubts about the veracity of many of the claims made in the promotional material. In order to dispel any concerns about the product, we welcome Regium to provide more open and live demos in order to substantiate these claims. When approached for comment, chess.com stated that they have already made such a request directly to Regium on Thursday of this week but this has yet to receive a response. chess24 has also been approached for comment and we will update when we receive a response.

We have Lichess members in Spain that will gladly attend a live demo of one of the boards displayed in the videos. We'll add their experience report to this blog post as soon as possible."
@kokkko normally I would agree with you but some of the stuff regium has done is unquestionably misleading and wrong. Even if they have a good product, an organization should not threaten to sue lichess.org as a first step, create "burner" accounts to defend themselves, or fake their videos.
@centralchef
quote
"the same, with different wording"
this shows 2 things
1) you do not even comprehend
2) I am just a leftover from another time, when there was at least some gentleman behaviour
@MathTennisCoding
misleading, yes, of course
still, if they are on a good thing, with bad advertisement, they would get nervous under pressure

and if they are really on a scam there is defenitely no haste necessary
