Which side are you on? 76% of Americans approved of President Trump's new speech

@Noflaps

Let me get this straight.

You're comparing wanting to invade a friendly cpuntry with some people who don't want to stand correctly?

LIke for you USA wanting to invade Canada for no reason is on the same level as some people who don't want to sit down or stand up or whatever at the right moment?

Oh, my! The polls and the math are just silly and can be disregarded when they disagree with our preconceptions, no doubt!

@Raspberry_yoghurt , re #51 I'm doing nothing of the kind, and could not in any event. Want to know why?

"Not standing" actually happened.

Trump invading Canada or Denmark DIDN'T actually happen, and I don't believe it ever WILL actually happen. It's yet another "Oh, no! Oh, no! worried speculation" that is confused with reality or conjured up in debate for want of a better answer.

Is worried speculation what you'd call it if someone threatened violence on your family but didn't do it?

@greatJaromie , you seem to assume the very matter at issue.

I have never heard Trump threaten violence to the families of Denmark or Canada.

Joking about Canada being a state wasn't threatening "violence." It was joking / trolling: something none of us who read online posts find terribly unfamiliar or shocking. Nothing that's going to move me to wring my admittedly large hands.

I doubt that I'll see an actual, accurate quotation of him seriously threatening violence to the ordinary families of Denmark or Canada. Please note: I said a quotation (NOT some pundit's or poster's attempted summary or paraphrase).

In any event, I think you'll find that relatively few think the United States actually will attack Denmark or Canada, for Pete's sake. I don't even think the average Dane or Canadian seriously fears that.

By the way, I believe most Americans have long since forgiven those who burned the White House during the war of 1812. Yes, I believe even most Republicans have forgiven! And Americans typically admire BOTH moose and mermaids!

The seemingly endless handwringing by many liberals and their media pals over Trump is persuading fewer and fewer. We've already seen four years of that: he's already been in office for more than four years -- before former President Biden took over and the world seemed to erupt in war (sure, it could be a coincidence). The world didn't end during Trump's first term. To the contrary, his first term was the most peaceful that I can remember.

Do YOU Remember?

Notice just how many people from OTHER countries seem unhappy when Trump acts with the best interests of HIS country in mind. Golly.

Trump talks about tariffs, and people from countries that have imposed tariffs AGAINST American products for many years suddenly tell Americans how unreasonable Trump is!

Some Americans, long following the fashion, go along with the notion that countries themselves are just, like, um, icky, you know?. But in that they have been led by the impractical or the self-interested -- and have been somewhat bamboozled.

There is PLENTY of national pride on display in other countries. Don't think so? Watch the World Cup. Or any other international athletic contest.

We will have four years of handwringing, no doubt. But as the days pass, fewer and fewer hands are being wrung. A lot of valuable lessons were learned from the last four years. Finally, America has a president that tries, at least, to ACTUALLY reduce waste and abuse.

And a demand for "reciprocal" tariffs doesn't seem to be so awful -- at least to many who understand what the word "reciprocal" means.

The status quo on the day Trump was elected was not okay. Many things have to change. It's hardly surprising that there are some who will resist such change.

Oh, com'on, I'm SURE you know what "reciprocal" means! ,

And I wasn't kidding about other countries LONG imposing tariffs upon some American products. It can be checked, by any asserted conservative who cares to do so, I believe!
