My 12 step program. A riddle and a give away

Hmm...

I believe this is exact explanation of him/her:
https://lichess.org/forum/general-chess-discussion/new-cheaters-2?page=13#126

Just do not bother with anymore. His/her only goal is to prove his/her false superiority and just plays some stupid and weird games around. He/she talk to much but says nothing usefull and logical, except to glorify his/her false superiority... Certainly mentally unstable person.

@Darksouls in #15 makes great remark - indeed you have a great humor! But I would not supprise that it is just some banal swears, or junk/gibberish with which he/she will just say: "Ha-ha! You all are so dumb. I have told you, now I proved that I'm above all of you!" Simply do not accept his/her idiotic chellanges.

"Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience" by Mark Twain.

Regarding the "riddle", that indeed seems to be Enigma encoded text and 1-9-1-8 may be gears position. Only problem here is which Enigma version is used.

Alan Turing was creator of Enigma decoder based on one model they captured, but as they did not know correct gears position for every day or every message, thus machine itself tried all possible combinations.

But as I suggested, do not bother to decode his/her original "riddle" nor waste your time on that - it is just what he/she wants!

I think I've solved it. It's the cure for coronavirus 😅

@fastlearner50 @Daniel2340 @kiritolemon @SankarKappagantula If you have four gears, it has to be the Enigma M4 "Shark". Other possibilities are that it's only 3 gears with positions 1,9,18. With the M4 Enigma, using the plugboard bq cr di ej kw mt os px uz gh, UKW B thin reflector, rotors at beta, I, I, I, position and ring at 1,9,1,8, we get
assu rgsi emfn vmsw igjj cdfd vsnq hqbo tfti qnsg emtn swor qafs hjju xisj coce oagu hqhg lka,
and with M3 with position and ring 1,9,18 we also don't get anything readable.

At this point I think we should just brute force it. There are 158,962,555,217,826,360,000 combinations for M3, and so we'll need a computer to check it. Or maybe it's too many combinations. We would either need turing's bombe or another idea is to use a neural network (people have used them to decode old messages). That last option would be harder though.

@Pinito_the_Bulldog

The "flaw" of Enigma was in weather report format which was always the same. Then it is needed only about 1 million permutations to check, which is done by "The Bomb" in 20 minutes, seeking for matching of encrypted word "weather" in German.

If, and only if my assumption is correct, 1-9-1-8 may also be 19-1-8 or 1-9-18 for M3. And then other combinations needs to be checked.

But you cannot be certain what was in trolls head, thus simply ignoring such silly his/her games is the best you can do.

The thing is that he/she was a bad troll, and still posted a nice puzzle. It most likely is a real puzzle, even if the end is not very rewarding. I'll probably be working on this until I either conclude it's not a cipher, or I end up solving it. I tried a bunch of combinations and none of them worked. Also, there is the initial position, the rings, and the rotors which add up to 9 parameters.

Dude. I know what an internet troll is.

Now, "the" is the most common word in english. Can we use the turing bombe with that?

Potentially you could, if, and only if you are certain you have "the" word in the encrypted text and use M3. But, the most of German words are very long and "weather" word was in every message, thus in this case, you will be certain that is always possible to crack initial positions and decode message correcty.

But, I'm not really interesting to waste my time on this and any other trolls "riddles". I'm almost certain this will be another gibberish from him/her.

It is much better instead to focus on proving/disporving other problems matematitians struggle for a long time now, for instance Riemann hypothesis. At least you have a chance to receive 1 mil dollars reward, not miserable 300, if you get it after all from that troll.

I'm certain that you know definition of the troll, then do not bother with and his pathetic attempts to be in the center of attention.

If you want, I could give you encrypted message from my encription algorithm I used in the past and try to crack that. It is made on similar principles as Enigma, but it is much more complicated and I believe you will have much more fun to break it, if you actually crack my idea for encription...
