There are 12 layers to this puzzle, and i'm sure you could brute force them all but that would take a hell of a lot more than 2 hours. I think that there are some guidelines hiding in plain sight about what to use and how to use it, at various points between layers.

In hindsight, 1918 was a lot of things, and might have been a harsh hint. The whole thing is very doable, either by brute force or by the more incisive (but way easier to miss depending on your O.K) and fast way.

It's one of those things where there's an easy way and there's a hard way but the easy way is really impressive to have available to you and the hard way is harder but it WILL get the job done too.
