@thibault Could you explain why Lichess remains silent on this issue? Why this difference in approach compared to other positions? I've always been in favor of Lichess's positioning, I'm very disappointed with this.

The explanation is the exact same as to why Russian flag is still around, even in case Lichess deemed Israel guilty of conducting an exterminatory war

Does that explain everything? Have you read the statement they made about the invasion of Ukraine and that's the conclusion you've come to?
I told you the other time and I'll repeat it now: I'm writing in this subforum (Lichess Feedback) because I want a response from the Lichess Administration. I don't want to waste my time with genocide deniers. If you get bored (you've been playing for almost 74 full days and have posted 7.680 forum comments in 5 years), go bother somewhere else.

What? Are you new here? Lichess was characterized by taking positions (in my opinion, always correct and that made the community proud)

Why are they now keeping silent about such a serious case?

Why do you close a topic instead of giving an answer
Because moderators have a habit of closing any thread that's likely to lead to heated, fruitless, or toxic discussions. And the topic you're discussing is unfortunately one of those. (I too, would like people to be able to debate online without hating each other, but the reality is quite different.)
Why Lichess remains silent on this issue
It's possible that the Lichess team is waiting to reach complete and unanimous agreement on a topic before speaking publicly. All wars are complex, but the subject of the Israeli-Palestinian wars, spanning well over a century, has become even more complex than others.
It therefore seems entirely possible to me that the Lichess team is unable to agree on the exact content of a statement on this subject. That doesn't mean they don't care, just that it's difficult to speak with one voice on such a complicated subject.

Are you ashamed to stand up against a genocide? Do you know what that makes you?
You know why. Because standing against this particular genocide can have severe consequences.
See the UK were they just proscribed an anti genocide organization as a terrorist org making membership punishable by 14 years in prison.
We've also had numerous 15 pages threads on this topic one worse than the next.
Genocide is wrong. Starving people by force is wrong and indefensible. Israeli soldiers are confiscating baby formula from doctors, that's a crime against humanity.
One day soon everyone will always have been against this.
PS: I agree that these threads are pointless and should be closed or moved to the trash ie the of topic forum

Can't I question the Lichess Administration on this issue because this debate upsets people who support genocide and the topic becomes controversial? Are you aware of the nonsense you're trying to argue? Supporting, denying or attempting to silence a genocide is unacceptable and the opinion of people who do so should not be considered.

WHAT? We've been experiencing almost two years of daily killings. They've murdered tens of thousands of children, they're starving the entire population to death. They've murdered healthcare and humanitarian workers. They've bombed hospitals, schools and United Nations buildings. They've ignored all international law and all Human Rights conventions. What's so complex about taking a stand against this massacre? What are they waiting for to take a stand?

So what do we do then? Do we stay silent so as not to upset the European far right? We all know who some of those commenting on this topic would have sided with in 1940. We're seeing history repeating itself before our eyes. The least we can do is not remain silent in the face of this genocide.
PS: before anyone repeats it, I am against the attacks of October 7 (2023) and of course, against any anti-Semitic act.
