Multiple (duplicate) accounts policy on lichess

Fair enough, Sarg0n!
I understand this point, but I would love to see them really remaining completely anonymous.

Which means:

  1. disable the option be followed and they please dont follow
  2. disable private messages
  3. reduce the chat to only chess related topic (game window)
  4. No discussion board posting
  5. No other "social" online life
  6. something I miss :-)

Sadly, this is not the case - users with multiple accounts are making same or new friends and are actively participating in discussions here and in tournament chats...

Fair enough point
But u see @Funkmaus I dont think how mods will recognise multiple accounts of same person
And people wont reveal their second account or third or fourth....
So it will remain a problem

There's just no accounting for chess players with distinct personalities.

I have seen quite a few people with MORE than 2 accounts for absolutely no reason. They do the same things as on their normal account.

I have yet to understand why people keep on doing this.

This is what this thread is about, dear NM - but I guess I understand why people are doing this and sadly, I cant think about them having good intentions.
Just one clear example: they missbehaved on original, got blocked - new account - and they can play/talk to same people. It doesnt sound fair, right?

@lovlas Hey you are a mod and you have two lovely dogs there <3
Have you read the topic + my post #11?! - I know where the privacy settings are -
What is your opinion on that matter?
Shall we report duplicate accounts? Is lichess planning to do something about people who are creating several duplicate accounts for no reason? Is it in interest of lichess to solve the issue at all?
I am really appreciated to hear from you :-) Thanks in advance.

@Funkmaus yes, I agree. And the sad thing is that when people get chatbanned for example, they just create a new account and their privileges are back.

But it's hard to do anything. IP ban wouldn't do a lot, and it wouldn't be fair for your relatives who live in the same house and play on lichess.

Yes that is a problem @mysterious_expert. Ithink that video games ban cheaters in the same way but it has more effect, as that would typically mean spending money again to get the game or skins or something back

In case of bans: u cannot just create and another account as nothing has happened. Lichess knows exactly who belongs to who.

Obviously one can have multiple accounts in a peaceful manner, e.g. separating them cautiously. As long if you aren’t a constant source of nuisances nothing will happen.
