Do not create multiple accounts

I have a second account for blindfold chess because my play is a lot weaker then and could be considered sandbagging as others already suggested.

On its profile page I link to my standard account for transparency.

"You have to close the previous account so you can open new account by using same email as well, you can create with another email as well if you don't want to close the previous account. But you can't open another account with same email in which the previous account was made and it is still open."

If this is true, then rating scam is possible.

Player 1 opens account A at 1500. Player 2 opens account B at 1500.
They play, player 2 wins all games. Account A is at 1200 and Account B is at 1800.
Player 1 closes account A and opens account C at 1500.
They play, player 1 wins all games. Account B is at 1500 and account C is at 2100.
Player 2 closes account B and opens account D at 1500.
They play and player 2 wins all games. Account C is now at 1800 and account D is at 2400.
Player 1 closes account C and opens account E at 1500.
They play and player 1 wins all games. Account D is now at 2100 and account E is now at 2700.
Player 2 closes account D and opens account F at 1500.
They play and player 2 wins all games. Account E is now at 2400 and account F is now at 3000.

Well, I see one reason to open a second account. To be able to keep some private notes to oneself outside of the per-game notes... likes memos you do not want to impose on others, or first impulse draft ideas. It used to be possible in the inbox with one account. (also it could be threaded). But these feature got traded for more internet friendly pure chat system.

#42 @tpr The last time I tried to explain to you that the ratings system didn't work the way you seem to think it did, you claimed to know more about the ratings than I thought you did. Based on your latest post, it seems even more obvious that you don't understand how the ratings system works.

Your calculations and ratings expectations are far from realistic.

First, lichess would ban you for rating manipulation long before you ever reached 2000, much less 3000.
How long do you think it would take to play the hundreds of games it would take to use your scheme to attempt to reach 3,000?

@tpr "Yes, if you berserk, then you drive your rating down."

How so?

Losing and drawing to a lower opponent causes your rating to go down if the ratings difference isn't high enough to prevent loss/gain of rating points.

Winning gains you rating points as long as the ratings difference isn't high enough to prevent gain of points.

The act of berserking, itself, has absolutely no effect on your rating.

@dboing "Well, I see one reason to open a second account. To be able to keep some private notes to oneself outside of the per-game notes..."

Why is that a reason to open a second account? Why not just make notes in a text file that you can easily access without having to change accounts?

Here is a guy who did this with fellow prison inmates instead of multiple accounts to get the same rating as Fischer.

Here is how the rating system works

The answer to your question of how many games it takes is to succesively apply the formulas given in this.
A rough guess is that 300 games should suffice to topple Carlsen.

When you berserk, you handicap yourself i.e. you win less and lose more than without berserk, and thus you drive your rating down. So it makes sense to have an account for no berserk and a second account for all berserk. The former will get to a higher rating and the latter will get to a lower rating for the same player.
The same for normal play and blindfold play.
The same for sober play and drunken play.

Or you just consciously know when to berserk and when not. If you don't over-berserk then the good old saying of "rating will balance out" applies anyway? ;)

Also in casual tournaments you can berserk more ...

I usually only berserk in casual tournaments, so I don't lose rating if I lose.

Casual is unrated, so it does not matter.
Indeed, rating will banace out.
However, if a player berserks all games in the general arena and thus drives his rating down to be eligible to play in the Uxxxx arena and then wins this and repeats the cycle then this player can win a number of Uxxxx tournaments.
In my opinion this should be disallowed and separate accounts for no berserk and all berserk should be mandatory.
