Can't create game with specific side any more

there are no abusers, though. when they create a challenge in the lobby, they did most likely not know they get paired with quickpairing-seeks (if the time control match by co-incident).
I only learned about the automatic matchmaking here in this thread myself.

They did abuse the feature, even if they did not know if was at the expense of others. They still knew what they were doing

In addition to a forum for users, every social network also has a logbook for official announcements from the operator. I find it very sad that the operator is unable to comment officially here. Whether there is an error or whether everything is intentional and if so, why. Everything here is left to self-appointed moderators. Irresponsible.

But a lot, I guess, thought, that they have been paired, calling for a black opponent, with a player, who agreed to their game request and loves to play black.

That they have been paired with all possible other players, where this has been explained? There have been no rules about not to play white only and no reporting option against it.

So it was allowed.

If things are not known and not explained, and there are no rules, there can not have been an intentional abuse.

I am not that "abusing player" and feel worse too. Here are punished all players now, this is not fair too.

Great point.

People used a feature that was there. How is that abuse?

What will axed next? The adjustment feature for ratings maybe? The database? Tactics? Who knows?

Unfortunately, I have lost faith in Lichess with the lack of consultation or comment over this issue. A simple message explaining why would have done, but nothing.

Thank you, Benedictine. I am glad, that you write this.

Yes, they only pressed a button and thought their wished black player plays to them.

What will axed next? The adjustment feature for ratings maybe? The database? Tactics? Who knows?

Yessss, have to laugh, because it shows the irrational part of the changes.

Unfortunately, I have lost faith in Lichess with the lack of consultation or comment over this issue. A simple message explaining why would have done, but nothing.

Yes, you are right. And I think, in important things, Lichess could have asked the players before to find a better and fair solution.

No more opening practice on lichess, sad

For Chrome there is Lichess Tools and it works quite well for opening practice on lichess...

Because they used it excessively, obviously not the way it was intended

What will axed next? The adjustment feature for ratings maybe? The database? Tactics? Who knows?

Nonsense, the color choosing feature Has. Not. Been. Deleted.
The option to abuse it has been removed, the feature is still available under fair circumstances!

Unfortunately, I have lost faith in Lichess with the lack of consultation or comment over this issue. A simple message explaining why would have done, but nothing.

Yes, an update would have been nice. Perhaps it will follow, but the position has been clear: It's been limited in order to stop the ongoing abuse

Yes, they only pressed a button and thought their wished black player plays to them.

Yes, and some people only pressed a resign button because they wished a lower rating for easier win. Does not mean sandbagging is not abusing the rating system

Yessss, have to laugh, because it shows the irrational part of the changes.

It has been very rational. They even made sure that people can still use the feature under fair circumstances!

Yes, you are right. And I think, in important things, Lichess could have asked the players before to find a better and fair solution.

This solution is already fair. The option still even exists for fair use!

It was intentional, Thibault mentioned that it is because people abused this to exclusively play white

Yes, and sandbagging and boosting were allowed at some stage as well. But in order to make Lichess a fair playing field, Lichess made the update in effort to combat this. The same goes for choosing color. It caused unfair play, so they fixed it!

If things are not known and not explained, and there are no rules, there can not have been an intentional abuse.

Perhaps it was not their intention to abuse, but that is what it amounted to

Yes, the fair players have to suffer under the abuse of others, it's sad
