Can't create game with specific side any more

BeDecentForAChange is totally dodging the issue, just hitting replay on his gaslighting greatest hits. He’s pretending to care, but the thruth is, he’s just here for the drama, hoping you'll get all riled up so he can sit back and enjoy the show. Classic troll move.

Thank you for your meaningful contribution! You shed light on the issue like no one else, and made a very good point!

Which issue am I dodging though? I believe I'm actually quite involved

I guess in some days we have the white/black option back again. The option is "greyed out", it is not taken away completely.
So, maybe a change in code is planned, to avoid players from the "quick pairings"-lobby not getting players from the who want to play a certain colour and made a challenge offer in the "Lobby"-lobby.

I dont think the code is difficult to implement, but maybe they want to test it for 1 week or so, before releasing it.

If no code is planned - well, maybe someone will help and change the code?

I dont like the demonization of "white-only players", they are no abusers. But its not ok if players from the quick pairings do not have a say if they are willing to play others who do want to play white.

The arguement that every Code addition is a risk - yes true. But lichess handled it in the past, they can handle it in the future, too.
Imagine we had the bare bones of lichess, only the minimum. That would reduce a lot of bug-potential. Of better, [sarkasm on] delete lichess completly? If there is no lichess, then there is no bug and issue! [sarkasm off]

Maybe it is greyed out because on some settings you can still use this feature.

You could do it yourself, from what I gather from your messages it should be a few hours or work at most.

There were abusers, but fortunately that has been taken care of

Not a risk per se, but it adds UI clutter, and cost for upkeep and compatibility. The addition of the feature needs to weigh against that. Maybe it's just not worth it

Just played six games in a row with black! Insanity.

Just played six games in a row with black! Insanity.

Why is lichess not listening to their members?
Excuses that players abuse the system are ridiculous.
Choose a color you want to play with and anyone can accept or deny the game.
Why take away a feature that is fun!
Sounds like the definition of a systemengineer:
A prerson that hopes that there will be after after him a programmer that think the way he does.
Definition of the programmer:
A person that hopes that after him no one thinks.

Just bring back the feature.

Not an excuse, people were abusing the system. There are people here with 8000 games with white and non with black

Choose a color you want to play with and anyone can accept or deny the game.

That's not how matchmaking works. Fair players were auto-matched against people with advantageous and unfair settings, and had no option to be shielded from abusers like that.

That's just a weird statement

Just bring back the feature.

You can use the feature, you can invite people to play under these conditions!

Contratulations Lichess, in the past they showed the number of views of a post in the forum, why they removed this feature? Because Lichess walks backwards, And there are worse things. Like choosing the rating of your oponents they removed. Because of these things I stopped using Lichess, just download a chess program like Arena Chess or Lucas Chess and play against engines.

Thats not a solution, why are we even pretending that inviting random people is just fine?

If chess com allows for choosing color, I doubt it truly causes any true problems, it's just pure laziness to remove a feature entirely. What really bothers me is that practicing certain openings in casual isn't possible anymore.
Also, why don't you comment using your real account?
