A database disaster

Yes, I was. To avoid data loss you basically have to have no changes happening between the time when the backup was taken and recovery time, which unfortunately isn't feasible when you have games played 24/7. So the data is gone forever.

How is it possible to delete 3.2 terabytes by accident?

How is it possible to delete 3.2 terabytes by accident?

There are many ways how you can do it. And there are many examples of even bigger accidents, like that time Google accidentally deleted all the data and the backups of a multi-billion pension fund. Absolutely everything... gone. Luckily for the fund, they were prepared and had additional backup elsewhere. So these things happen.

In fact, it only takes one wrong command to delete everything without any confirmation checks.

True, but the devs could also... do something about it, y'know, just in case things go even souther... Just saying.
I got quite the scare with the way everything bugged out on my end at least.

So those 38 minutes are gone forever basically?

How is it impossible?

Deleted by accident? I have been watching enough X-files to know better. What is it they don't want us to know about?

The truth is out there.
