(#12) - The Forsyth notation is great for saving a position for an adjourned Otb game that was not recorded. Used it many a time. Also having a chess wallet or a small travel set, is handy for saving a game position. - :]

@chessypiano you are very arrogant boy. You don't know what you are talking about. For now I block you. If you continue to be obstinate, I will report you to moderators.
You could make pictures with Your Smartphone and note down later in silence.
@pointlesswindows you know nothing about me and I am free to post as much as I want. I will certainly not stop just bcs you try to force it upon me, who do you think you are? This is my honest opinion, my goal wasn't to offend you at all, but it seems you are absolutely incapable of taking critisism. I tried many variations out myself I doubt you did. Feel free to childishly report me for nothing just bcs you are not man enough to take critique. I don't care if you block me I never wrote you a message anyway and never would consider to do so. I didnt even dislike your answer bcs it is not that bad, I just hate your behaviour not your answer.
If you want to do it faster than just drawing everything, Either print some 8x8 boards, or if you feel comfortable with non-visual things, try learning FEN, which is very easy.
I think someone asked about chess stamps- I got them from caseyrubberstamps.com. They were designed for William Lombardy to use playing postal chess so the molds were already done. They weren't cheap (45$) but also not crazy expensive either and John there was easy to deal with. They produce a chess diagram that looks like in a chess book. I am happy using them. -Bill
