Why correspondence chess is not so popular in lichess ( in comparision with chess.com)?

Although my friend, @fireIslandgerbil is playing 200 games in correspondence chess, it seemed it is not so popular here.

I think it's because the other site has a lot of tournaments for correspondence chess over there. I think if we had tournaments like that here, it might get more popular, just my thoughts about it.

i agree with #2. it's been a couple years since i been on deathstar, but they actually had thematic correspondence tournaments. and they are really solid ---- they'll have, for example, ruy lopez tournaments, but everyone would start with the same variation, which you choose... say you want to study the ruy lopez exchange variation, or the alapin against the sicilian. the games all start at whichever move is necessary to start for that variation.

also they just got more guys, i assume......... 10x more??? 50x more guys? so there's more players. so i miss that about deathstar. it's a great feature for correspondence guys. correspondence here is not v popular. personally, if i wanted to play correspondence, i'd play over there. not enough guys here. they're all blowing up pieces, hoarding pawns, racing knights, killing kings, trashing bishops and rooks when knights turn polka dotty................. great stuff......not.

My friend, @fireislandgerbil , learned chess in 2 days ago, 6/2/20, and he is already over 2000 rating with a 100% winrate (6 games).

I am sure he will be happy to join.

his rating is still provisional, i strongly doubt he/she can maintain an above 2000 rating in only two days after learning, to answer the question as posted correspondence just takes way too much time to invest in a single game, and the fact that opponents are using opening books, databases, engines are significantly higher than with blitz games, while it may be great for people that have limited time everyday but can login at least everyday , personally i've noticed only lower rated people play it because they can get a higher rating than they otherwise would in other game modes.

His 6 wins are people resigning after a move or 2, go look. That is hardly anything to brag about...

Because of cheaters, of course. Their occurrence raises to significant amount even on classic (~every 5th player), and in correspondence my expectation will be half of people play unfair.
