what have you learned from chess

That you don't need to be intelligent to've above average ratings, since I've above average ratings!

I learned how to be more patient through chess..

She asked "well what do you want to do"
I told her.
She said "oh I meant you can do anything reasonable"

I agree with you. Chess teaches that there are limits on what one can accomplish.

the motivation "you can do what ever you want " looks like the annoying investors on youtube that tells you that you can easily be rich
