Take back option.

The chess take back option is like requesting to take back what you said.
Take back words that have been spoken?
Only apologies can soften the spoken word.
The same reasoning goes for chess moves.
There cannot be real take-backs, because an action has been made.

Future rule : A chess player cannot time travel into the past of an active game and alter the future of that game. All moves are treated like checkmates. They have no take-backs, just rematches.
If a lot of people implemented a switch like this, there'd be no way to differentiate between people who have "no take backs" set and people who just refuse every take back as a matter of course.

I have them set on, but I only allow them in rated games in cases of very obvious slip-ups in even positions (e.g., Kf1 rather than 0-0; dropping a piece one move short on an obvious recapture, etc.).
It angers me to no end if I slip up and now an entire game is ruined because I dropped the piece on the wrong tile especially if it is an obvious mistake. For example if I go to castle and drop the piece short of the proper tile to initiate the move. Then the game because quite difficult if not a total loss. A situation that of course would not happen if one were sitting at an actual board.
That's just how it is with online chess. Everyone mouseslips occasionally. Best just move on and accept your opponent isn't going to risk their rating giving you a takeback. Chess is war.
I'm the oddball that allows takebacks, I guess. Granted, I only allow them if a)They come quickly after the move, and B) I haven't moved yet. Exceptions might be granted for misclicked castles (as these are pretty obvious) and interesting games that I want to see out without a stupid blunder.
Instead of using „move confirmation“ which can be done alone the opponent will be somewhat involved in the blundering business and is expected to help out.

Don’t speak of fairness. If you know you make mistakes cure them yourself. Let your opponent out of the game. You can do it yourself.
I only let takebacks occur if they're obviously mouseslips. It's no fun winning a chess game just because your opponents made a mouseslip. You don't learn anything.
