So many cheaters

@Autofill said in #15:

Your claim, many people cheating

I've just said that the OP makes blunders as everyone of his rating. So you can't use the argument that someone makes blunders to conclude afterwards that he plays too badly and for that reason there is no cheating. You make blunders too. Everybody makes blunders. Only Stockfish 8 makes no blunder. NB that Stockfish 1 to 7 makes blunders too. But those blunders are deliberately calculated by the bot.

I've just observed that many people boast about it.

if they write it in public chats then don't take it seriously either?

besides I don't know this to be a frequent thing as well.

Most players are fair. By that I mean 99% and that might still be not optimistic enough. You can troll and instigate as much as you want, thumb down proper posts as much as you want, you will not change the truth.

I don't think anyone knows how much cheating goes on ,so it's a moo point , but occasional engine use for say two moves three moves or four then back to playing must be almost impossible to detect. Also I think after everyone been watching the world chess championships , people are very tired or very inspired and it's a difficult time for all, asking yourself inner questions about your chess and playing, it's always a difficult time after watching so many hours of chess . I also have been tilting due to tiredness but we should all keep being kind to one another and know we all go through the same problems , worries or fears or inspiration and hunger for winning , this is only what I've learnt from watching the world championship from previous year. I too have been paranoid about occasional engine use of others but because I'm so tired I understand it's like I've damaged my brain from having too much chess a few days off and a rest and I'll be alright again. Please let's all keep being understanding towards each other . We've all experienced the same things in our on line chess lives , when you're winning life good when you're not it can be very depressing. Try to be understanding . If op thinks people are cheating , have you not thought that at some time in your on line use. I know I have and sometimes I report people wrongly because I'm tilting, I've also reported people and they have been subsequently banned . Chess is complicated and is mentally brutal at times , be kind, always xxx SOJB xxx

I have never knowingly played a game where my opponent cheated. I suspect that it is less common than these forums would have you believe, and that people cry cheat because their opponent played well.

I have had points "refunded" for "fair play violations" on the other site but not here.

In the last 6 months you have reported only one account for fair play reasons. The same account was also reported for inappropriate username. What I can say publicly is that the account is closed.
I don't see any other report for fair play in your history. Please use lichess.org/report.

This is highly inaccurate. I do use lichess report and lichess apparently fail to even register it. The amounts of time s i used it in the past 6 months is way higher than you post here and it shows to me that lichess isn't even capable of filing these reports accurately. Let alone handling them. I think this post shows me what I already figured. Lichess doesn't really handle cheaters like the players on this site could expect.

I have similar feelings (although I play only classical) and have reported at least 5 players for cheating in the last couple of months. I do not know how many people are engaged with handling the reports for cheating but it looks either they are not enough or something is not working as the players that play fair expect. And I have seen more than a few videos on youtube where a cheater on chess dot com is banned in a matter of minutes not days. That's why I suspect the lack of team members could be the reason Lichess cannot address the reports for cheating properly.
