#28 that is a good game of chess. I'm not kidding.
Of course in correspondence, you have plenty of time to think, whereas in blitz or rapid time is a factor.
But correspondence is a good way to start out

It wasn't much of a correspondence game, I felt like what in DBD (my main game and the one I stream) that I was playing on auto pilot. Which is really weird for a game I don't really play yet. I had an image of what I wanted to do, and all the space in the world to just roll with it and everything fell into place. I think it will be more telling when I play someone who "joins in on the conversation" but this one was basically played by myself.
I think that what makes a sport is defense. That's the difference between boxing, hockey and basketball vs something like bowling, darts or gold (which are just games)
I wouldn't consider this a valid chess game, because the other player didn't stick up for themselves and I didn't have any critical moments (Unless I missed them?)

That's right your opponent didn't really put up a fight, this will be different once you face stronger opponents. If you win, your rating goes up, and you will be paired with players with a similar rating usually.

Yeah, it's like that in a lot of games. My first match as killer in DBD was actually kind of similar. People were either sandbagging each other or memeing and killed themselves more than I got to! Enter my first surv game and the killer was afk.
This felt about as valid as those did, i'm assuming the guy wasn't a chess player.

Hearing such a unique take, was really interesting, and your guitar analogy really spoke to me!
So it wasnt the P@#n analogy?, dang, Well, i aimed broadly to see which one sticked. Lol.
But its real though. I learned the basics in a small wooden one, but i didnt got interested until i got the cheapest club board. But when i got a decent one, boy.
And when i learned to play go, i learned on a virtual board as well, i couldnt buy one online due to import prices and stuff, but i did bought the stones and built a real size board out of wood. You have no idea how i love to make each move, i cant help it, it puts a very big smile on my face, specially since i cant use it that often as nobody around me but a friend that i havent seen in a year and a half.
Anyways. I dont know where you live, but there are basically 2 types of chess club boards, both have standard board and pieces size, but the cheap one, the pieces are cheap plastic and are very light. The "premium" ones are built with a better plastic, but they are hollowed on the bottom and have a metal weight there and are covered by cloth. They are pretty, are built to last, the pieces are heavy, so you can play outside without fear of the wind blowing up the pieces, and they feel nice to the touch.
They are like 15-20 usd, they are not that expensive. I mean, there are some club sets that might go up to 50 usd or so, but get one that is pretty enough but heavy enough. Those are the good ones.

It's off topic, but this is my humble little DBD stream, and you can see my learning process in a nutshell here. It consists mostly of eating things with my eyes and screwing around with things / how they behave.
I can describe it as a very romantic thing, where if I want to chase a survivor I feel a desire to walk "Through" the walls. Even if I see a path in front of me, the first instinct it to do something that isn't possible? It's weird when I say it out loud, but it's the qualia of what I am interested in, and I communicate with it in how I play. almost like empathy.
There is also a lot of not guess work, in how I take other players. It's a lot of guesswork where I profile people or things, but also not guess work at the same time? It's like writing fiction, where you have suspension of disbelief, or authorial conceit and just kind of run with it. I promise there's a method to the madness tho, and it's easier to operate than to explain.
I'm not a brainy person, but I try to act "Intelligently" I am stronk when I have an intimate understanding and can derive useful or exploitative actions from it. I can be really sus when I am lost, or in an experimental phase tho! like walking off the map in overwatch sus

Yes it is. if they have both types, the light and heavy ones, check both, and as soon as you lift the heavy piece, you will get it.
Its actually the only bad thing of online chess, you cant feel the pieces.
Cheers.
