If you are still learning the rules, go to lichess.org/learn
To improve your tactics go to lichess.org/training
You can also play some games in the lobby by going to the home page.
Thanks for the speedy reply. I learned how to move the pieces already. What are tactics in the context of chess? Is there a reason you suggested tactics over something else like strategy, assuming Chess divies them up like War and combat sports do.
As for games, is there a way of getting the most out of it?
Do people who want to sweat in this game typically play more, or are there primers or study to tackle first?
Ik that memory consolidation is OP in some games or sports, where you do a little bit, you take a nap and then you take back to it fresh but other games like OW are best played exhaustively.
Are there any conventions about learning outside of the game, or just spamming / grinding volume?
any tips for what type of games, or how to do games and get the most out of it?
Like if I woke up and decided ok i'm gonna become the best player ever, what's my best shot?

Can you elaborate on what practice is in this game?
As for puzzles, is that super general or targetted?
What specific tournaments should I either enter or aspire to, depending on how you meant that?

Well tactics are really simple to know and understand. If you’re looking for some tactics to learn then maybe you can also use the study option

I don’t understand! Why are there so many questions?
first go with bullet or blitz tournaments! they are the easiest sometimes. chess baisics learns you how toplay chess. puzzles there so many kinds of it you must start with the normal one cause the others might be online!@wawabywibwib said in #5:

Oh, I did a google type deal between asking that and now and they seem to be exactly like the word implied.
They also seem, at surface level, to be kind of common sense! I think I might be better off learning more abstract or principled things, on how to make tactics favorable or produce certain types of games , battles or arguments, if that word makes sense in the context of chess.
It sounds clearer in my own head lol
