MC‘s real statement

@Cedur216 said in #67:

you didn't say it but you act like it ... seriously though, what does prove cheating in your eyes? If algorithms showing use of engine do not, then what does? And are you happy with potentially cleaning a lot of actual cheaters with such attitude?

Did the algorithms really show an use of engines? Maybe or maybe not. So far I have never seen an algorithm show this. You?

And you were wrong on another point. The moderator or moderators should have watched the streams of said Youtuber:

This statement didn't really tell us anything new. Magnus just put into words what he'd previously communicated through his actions. What is missing is an apology. Not to Niemann (that's never gonna happen, we know that), but to the Sinquefield Cup's organizers and players, as well as to the players of Julius Baer Generation Cup... and maybe to the chess fans in general. Regardless of whether Hans has cheated against him or not, his behavior was unacceptable. He should have handled the whole situation differently, and now owes an apology.

Apparently you feel that Carlsen owes everyone an apology. I don't think he agrees, nor do I.

I did not say "everyone." In the very least he owes an apology to all stakeholders of tournaments on which his behavior had a negative impact.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, of course.

But everyone is entitled to an opinion, of course.

Alright, to specify your list:

Carlsen doesn't owe Niemann an apology.
Carlsen doesn't owe the Sinquefield Cup's organizers an apology.
Carlsen doesn't owe the Sinquefield Cup's players an apology.
Carlsen doesn't owe Julius Baer Generation Cup's players an apology.
Carlsen doesn't owe the chess fans an apology.

This better, sir?

Loud and clear. On 2, 3 and 4 I do not see how one can disagree that he needs to apologize. But to each his own, I guess...

LOL. He doesn't owe the other players an apology for "gifting" Niemann points in a league situation?

Prime example of where people are losing perspective on the situation and falling into a Magnus Vs Niemann mindset...

"Magnus played pathetically"
-- Random player with rapid lichess rating below 1800....

How on earth do you consider yourself to be in the position to judge Carlsen's games? Talking about ego....

Wow,
how on earth do 98% of earth population consider themself to be in the position to judge soccer games?

This is the same kind of elitist and egocentric view as Carlsen has.

Indeed, when people are overly arrogant and wrongly self-confident about their soccer opinions they're equally unbearable

Of course, Carlsen owes an apology to all those affected. And especially to Niemann! Carlsen has done massive damage to chess with his unethical behavior. This better sir?
