Of course it's absurd. Time is just one reason. If I wanted to play one person I'd have to take time off from my cell phone which where most of these games are played, at work. I barely have two minutes and even then might have to resign a game if something comes up. This may be disrespectful but I notice I'm not the only one cutting people off. Granted, it can be annoying, but I just go on to the next game.
Pardon my lack of respect (?) but I never play rematch and never will. One game. I get tired of people asking for a rematch.
