The missing time stamp probably kills a good detection. Either much more false-positives or false-negatives.

The problem with Correspondence Chess is that engine analysis and openings books are allowed. I play on a professional correspondence chess server and my rating is very low due to this, I'm around 1500ish. This is because most people use openings books and engines for analysis so those who don't, really struggle to achieve a high rating. I know people on there rated over 2300 but in real time chess are probably around 1700FIDE.

Correspondence requires other skills than classical over the board chess: organisation, patience, scientific approach as opposed to strong nerves, physical stamina, psychology...
Correspondence hence attracts elder people, physically impaired, prison inmates who could not play over the board.
Most top correspondence players are IM in over the board chess.
