I’m sorry, but how can you catch cheaters that are using the engine for most moves but not all?

Jesus knows, Jesus knows everything.

I'll admit, it really annoys me when people make bold statements without backing them up with some sort of data. It really does.

How many accounts have you closed this week and that’s just the ones you caught!

We may not be able to catch them, but experts will discover their pattern.
But more importantly: let's say a cheater managed to fabricate the game in such a way that his/her game includes weak moves but eventually wins.
Who do we think is the loser here?
Such a person destroys himself in the first place.
And it takes time for people to come to such an understanding.
Online chess is a new phenomenon and so is cheating in chess.
Over time, most people will come to this understanding. Along with the fight against online fraud, we need to expand the online chess culture.

If you're paranoid about cheaters create a team and tournament playing against the same 7 to 23 other players who are trying to avoid cheaters.

I do think there are those out there that use a first 10 move script then when they are stuck and their cheatsheet no longer helps they will use engine for 2 to 3 moves burning 10minutes of clock to improve their position. They are usually the same kamikaze players that use a gambit they learned from Gothamchess and when it doesn't work they go to plan B.

But it's really difficult with eye test to know who got help for 3 moves or who magically played great for 3 moves then badly blundered their material advantage in the endgame low on time.

I know this:: getting frustrated bc you are worried they cheated only makes you play worse and blunder the game away. I lost minimum 10 games online from just being p1ss3d and paranoid. The best vengeance is staying focused and winning. Then never play them again.

But I do think there are more people assuming someone cheated than people who do cheat. Find 15 people.
Play online and train together. Then get out there and play OTB.

Anyone under 16yrs old who wants to be great at this game should be finding serious minded training partners and creating your own tournaments together and then playing highly observed tournaments that watch for shenanigans. You also need to get out there OTB and getting registered.

-Irwin looks for play characteristic of chess engines: github.com/clarkerubber/irwin

-Kaladin looks for play uncharacteristic of the players: github.com/lichess-org/kaladin
