I know I speak for many chess players of color that our contribution doesn't get respected.
I'm black but that doesn't define me, but whenever I try to participate as a random chess player I'm always made to feel I'm statistically zero because most Grandmasters are white.
I am not saying anyone here is racist but I am calling out the chess community for systemic bias against people of color.
I'm not asking for anything to be cancelled or that chess the game isn't fair but the people in position of power don't seem to want to change things for people of color.

Can you be a bit more specific when you say your contribution is not respected. I always thought chess was a colour blind game. However as a white man perhaps I'm wrong. I'm always open to different perspectives. You say your are made to feel statistically zero. I don't understand. Please pardon my ignorance. How or what happens when you participate as a random player?

@michuk not to minimize your life experience but i feel that a lot of people use the color/race card too much as a crutch and manifest that idea or belief everywhere they go .. pretty much see what they want to see as a confirmation bias. I'm not saying racism doesn't exist but people of all colors are capable of being racist , capable of being the stereotype, but they are also capable of changing whenever they want.. the same goes for people claiming gender bias' ... life isn't fair just because there aren't x number of black grand masters, or y number of female grand masters doesn't mean there is systematic abuse of that gender or race it just means there are probably less players of that group that play compared to other groups especially at the top tier levels.. As far as your contributions are to the game of chess I have no clue to what contributions you have made but feel free to post a link.. It may be hard to change your viewpoint but i strongly suggest maybe a counselor to talk through your issues with.. it worked wonders for me a few years ago
It is strange. People here on lichess doesn't know your rase or color of your skin. But generally black are discriminated in chess all the time because white always has the first move. I can live with that.

@michuk i do take issues of race seriously but it is you who does not. When you feel "statistically zero" because you are not white then it is you who thinks racial differences in chess matter. I think there are not so much black grandmasters because perhaps in some countries and cultures chess is less popular. I do not think someone's race, sex or whatever matters in chess.
