I have been using the lichess database to prepare several openings already, but recently I have been searching for a correspondence chess database. I found some grandmaster correspondence games and noticed that many counter intuitive variations are played aside from the main lines. I was wondering if I could find a collection of the correspondence games played on this site or somewhere else.
The reason I am so interested in this is because I noticed in a recent chess tournament that grandmaster were playing strange counter intuitive variations, and found a similar phenomenon in correspondence games. Upon further research I discovered that grandmasters use databases like these in opening preparation. This would not only enhance my general understanding by continuing to observe games like these, but I can also discover various rare, but sound weapons to use in future tournaments.
How would lichess set this up?
