Hariishkarthik2010, you were lucky - ever tried closing your account yourself? After the regrets, handshake and explanations (they make you select "other" reason and leave it blank), they retain your account. I mean they have to make money somehow and it is an ingenious operation but really. It is all so American.
Seriously, had I known I signed over the rights to all my games as though I were a professional player I might have thought twice.

Dude, they can close your account without your permission. If you violated their terms of service, that's completely right for them to do that.

The clear-cut answer to this is:
Lichess is FREE FREE FREE, FOREVER...
For me even if Lichess is not free, regardless of my current financial condition
I will choose it, because the site is designed in a beautiful and practical way
And you feel that those in charge of it are very mature
Their choices are always sound, they know what to do and you can feel the hard work behind it
with the idea that they are working to make chess available to everyone without restrictions
But this does not mean that I should only use this site alone
We can use more than one and Chesscom also has its positives, like this we will support our chess community to be more large and brighter
also the best thing about lichess is that it is not static and constantly evolving
