#17 neither site has a more accurate ELO point system. Both Chess.com and Lichess use a glicko point system. This is different than the ELO system used by FIDE (and USCF and likely other national federations as well).

Now, Chess.com ratings are lower than Lichess ratings. This is not due to accuracy of the ratings. Rather, it is because Chess.com seeds players at 1200 rating when they start. Lichess seeds new accounts at 1500 rating. For the last several months, Chess.com has seeded new accounts at 800 rating. The initial rating of new accounts impacts the rating distribution. This is to say that Chess.com ratings will be lower than Lichess ratings for the same skill because the baseline rating for new accounts is lower.

Note that neither Chess.com or Lichess is a good indicator of FIDE ratings. They use a different rating system (Glicko instead of ELO). And the pool of players are not the same. Rating systems are not comparable when the pool of players are different. While we can try to compare Lichess ratings with Chess.com ratings or FIDE ratings, any comparison should not be taken too seriously.

I think we should not compare between the two as both are different and highly rated by players. Lichess is different an very good an so is Chess.com. We should not differentiate as people have different opinions.

With apologies to shadow1414, the departure of Danny Rensch from chess.com says it all.

@Degdegs. He is not there any more? If so sad. I think he was nice:(. But what does that have to do with this thread?
