Chess.com vs Lichess

@Kilbroney If that is your opinion, then I congratulate you. But the question is to know which one is better and why. I want clear, forceful and precise answers regarding the subject.

Does there need to be only one chess site? Can there be 2 great sites?

Right now chess.com has 83,450 players online
Right now lichess.org has 33,000 players online

So thats an advantage. More people doesn't make it better but it is an advantage to have a larger base. I'm glad we have both sites. I think it helps both sites out for there to be competition.

I do have to wonder how this website keeps going for free. I'm sure it will grow and be around for 50 years, but the fact that it is completely free makes me somewhat nervous.

lichess is financed by donations. If you derive great value from the site consider giving it some money to keep it running. It also is open source so anybody with the resources and knowledge can create a copy if ever necessary.

I feel bad for new people to chess. When they try to post a message, they have to prove they are human by solving the chess CAPTCHA checkmate. How does that work if they don't even know how to move the pieces that well?

in my opinion, chess.com is worse in just about every aspect. They just pay some titled players to make it seem like the strong players prefer chess.com (might be wrong, but this is what it seems to me)

I don´t play there anymore because there are a lot more cheaters there than here.

I once played 5 cheaters in a row while attempting to play some longer time controls a few years ago...
