I recently played some games and I realised that there are players clearly cheating that have not been banned for.. How long does it takes to Lichess to ban such players?
Some players at my current level (I know I am a noob) play way above their ratings and it seems that its fine to cheat (I know it isnt), but it ruins the experience for many players that just like me feel like there is no point trying.

All you can do is not play them I guess, if you think they are cheating.
Some players I was sure were cheating made mistakes in later games. Either they stopped cheating or things just evened out.

Can you link two or three games when you thought the opponent is cheating?

What do you want us to do about them getting better at it -- it's bound to happen; those who want to cheat and stay under the radar will find a way to do so

Regrettably, this site is infested with cheaters. The only cheaters Lichess can catch are the ones that are foolish enough to plug in every single engine suggested move from the opening frame to the endgame. For smarter cheaters that consult the engine strategically in tough positions, or only during other critical moments in the game, there is absolutely nothing that can be done.
Reports are pointless. Lichess moderators are limited in number and do not have the time, or desire, to root out cheaters. The notion that deep statistical analyses are conducted over many games to catch minute fluctuations within a range of secret metrics known only to the Lichess elite is an absurd lie. Nobody does this. They never have.
Long story short, if the basic automated process does not catch a cheater, the cheater will never be caught.
A word of advice, however. Do not complain too much about the cheating. Lichess moderators are far more concerned with acting as kindergarten censors and, among other things, muting people, than they are with rooting out cheaters. European fascists, at their worst.

@sheckley666
Because this would take a team of computer engineers and analysts that would rival most tech companies in silicon valley. Nobody is doing this -- certainly not with a team of unpaid volunteers.

I've been thinking about playing the classical Sveshnikov, or Taimanov, but I keep coming back to the Najdorf. Imo the Ruy Lopez is garbage and anybody who plays should colgate.
