I am a basic player and am teaching a total newbie to play chess
We have found the take back move feature a game changer and she has learnt a lot more quickly as a result
We are now at a position where she is good enough for me to not know what to suggest at times
So ...
What we would really like is to be able to play a game and have a button that we can sometimes click to show the suggested chess engine move
Is this possible
If not is there some way to have the chess engine showing the suggested best move all the time - this would not be nearly as useful to us though
We play non rated games
If not possible on Lichess are there other chess sites that make this possible
I have considered having laptop and tablet side by side but I would really like us both to be able to call it up and see the answer and chat about it
Maybe a bit like the take back option - so you both have to say yes to the "check the engine"

I think freechess.club/ has a beginner mode that does something like that.

You can "play" in a lichess study, which would support this. Engine analysis or assistance is not allowed in any lichess game between humans, even in unrated games.

I have had what I think is an extensive look at Lichess Study but cannot get it to behave as I would like
It shows all the moves ahead in a little window according to stock fish analysis and we don't want to be able to see this
I am not sure how these things work but I have realised that I am not after a stockfish depth analysis as such - but the suggested move by a computer player rated at say 1200
This then gives us an best move opinion that is better than the level we are at - but also without it being to clever - and so suggesting "deep" moves that are way over our heads
(Not looked at freechess.club yet)

You can engine analysis on and off in studies

This is a difficult problem, to be honest. Stockfish is not really designed for this task. You could try to, for example, limit Stockfish to only very low depth, but it still won't suggest good moves for intermediate players. You may want to take a look at Maia, which is designed to play like a human at a certain level.

Can I play someone and also have a button to call up what a low level chess engine suggests
Yeah! I allow it!
Use Chessmaster 2100 - very low level, I can beat it in classical time ctrl if position is closed enough.

if you are going to create 2 bots accounts in lichess (bot account bs bot account)
just to fight each other?
technically they are accounts that already have an engine in the middle

they would have the bot rank
