Just make her play on chesscom against bots. Turn on the relevant crutches like hints.
But if i may suggest something, it's best to do a post game analysis instead. Chess as much as finding the best move, is also about the discipline of consistently doing the process on finding the best move. By turning on crutches during the game, this discipline / good habit will be difficult to form. Pretty soon, the learner will have this habit of not thinking things through for themselves and will always itch for an assist.
Yeah but also neither of us are that serious about it - so that isn't going to happen
We just want to enjoy chess at a simple level and socially chat a bit at the same time
Sometimes I suggest moves for her learning and make my moves also for her learning
We do loads of move take backs etc
But sometimes she might say I don't know what to do - in terms of tactics and actual moves - and neither do I
So that is when being able to see what a chess engine says would help - but ideally not a very good one just one that was a bit better than us so that we can think - ah that makes sense
Online chess helped me with my mental health when I was really really bad - and so I am teaching her for the same reasons and she says it is working
Just something to keep the head busy when it is going round and round due to trauma etc
Speed chess is very good for this - against strangers and NOW - even if 2 in the morning - then another game and then another and another
But playing each other if we are in the right space allows a bit of supportive chat as well as social chat
Sometimes one of us might not be in the right space and we just play the chess and turn voice off - but it still helps and we sort of understand the "level" at which we allow take backs
Thanks to everyone for their replies to date - though some don't seem to understand that this is nothing to do with cheating at all - but that could be a language understanding thing
