Black Lives Matter

@glbert -- I hold to that standard everyone who claims that the "pick & choose" approach is not a political statement.
@Pashut
Why can the criteria not just be an emotional one? After watching Hasan Minhaj's talk about this whole thing i cried man. And I am on the complete other spectrum of this debate (being a white person in a predominately Black country). But just because its not my color... does not mean i do not completely understand what the issue is or what they are going through (so yes again it should be #AllLivesMatter).
But just the sheer emotion surrounding this whole "hot topic" as you call it can and should be reason enough to want to be involved (whether that is in support or against - both have merit here, as long as your reasons for being against it is not because your just a racist lol, but you understand the political issues surrounding singling out something like this)

At this point though I think we should definitely not fight with each other and argue the semantics... we should all agree that this is a huge issue in the whole world (racism is not just one color) and anything that bring light to this issue should be a good thing!!!
@Iubar -- I have clearly stated my opinion and did not try to hide it. Please review my initial post.
@Lonerdruid We all have many great causes to support. Political organizations such as BLM voice a great slogan like "end police brutality for BLack people" that we ALL can agree with, but they carry with their own set of Beliefs and Tactics and Attitudes that could harm the cause of equality and harm society as well.

I loved this website because i thought it was a minimalist, streamlined, and APOLITICAL chess website.
@thibault I have massive respect for you for what you've given to the chess community, however I'm not a fan of how your only method of reasoning seems to be posting comic strips.
The latest one you posted about free speech says "... your free speech rights aren't being violated. It's just that people listening think you're an asshole." May I ask who decides that someone is an asshole and who isn't? Clearly "people" can't delete posts or ban people from platforms?
Also, policing speech on online platforms would only make sense if the platform itself were to be held responsible for what is posted on it - however we all know that isn't the case.
I for one didn't expect a chess site of all things to be baited in by this.
I had preferred my favourite chess site not take a side in politics. BLM is not (just) against racism, it is also a political narrative and set of ideas, some offensive against other people. Assuming you are "in it" for the not-racist part (I hope we all are), but ... be aware it is not necessarily what BLM intends or generates.

Edit: Let me add - thank you for a great chess web site!
What is a "black" life?? When is a life "Black"? Is it evil or dull or obscure? Is there a "green" one, too? What exactly does it mean? Seems an absolutely absurd concept to me. I just do not get that slogan ...
Sad. And I just bought lichess shirt few days ago because I wanted to support you :(
