Beta release of Listudy

A great idea! I'm trying to upload a pgn, but the board appears empty, without pieces:

[Event "C60 Ruy Lopez"]
[Site "https://listudy.org"]
[Result "*"]
[UTCDate "2019.04.22"]
[UTCTime "10:00:00"]
[Variant "Standard"]
[ECO "C60"]
[Opening "Ruy Lopez"]
[Annotator "supertorpe"]

  1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5

Might be something else of course, but this PGN isn't valid. For example, these tags are mandatory (have to come in this particular order too): Event, Site, Date, Round, White, Black, Result

Oh yes you are right. The problem is that the game doesn't end with *. When I input

it is parsed correctly.

hey i would be interested for solving tactics there as using spaced repetition is more efficient for me i see in choosing the colors i cannot choose both as that would be effective for tactics training

@Kitaeleweka I don't know how effective my site would be for learning tactics. It's not designed for that use case. You could try make a study for it but I suggest using https://lichess.org/training or https://blitztactics.com/ for tactics training.

@ArneVogel i need to use spaced repetition, both of those sites you mentioned dont employ this technique, you said your spaced repetition uses spaced repetition so i thought maybe you should include tactics too.

  1. "The arrows that give the answer away should go away after the right move has been done 2 times in a position and should only appear again if 2 mistakes were made afterwards. 3. Same with the comments.
Do you want to disable them before that? A disable/enable help button? "

Yes I would like to have a button to disable or enable the arrows while training as well as the comments. This could be useful in providing hints.

  1. "The move/line to practice is chosen based on which move has the lowest 'learnt' score. Do you want to repeat the move/line multiple times before moving on to other lines that have lower 'learnt' scores?"

I only want to be able to repeat if I get the sequence of moves incorrect for a specific line even if other lines have lower learnt scores. I don't want to move from a line i got wrong to another line. My thought on this is that if you are trying to remember a specific line and get it wrong you need to repeat it until you get it correct at least 2 times.

  1. I will definitely do that.

"As for features: I will implement a search, improve the UI and other small stuff that improves the site. What features do you think are still missing?"

Another thing I noticed is that when I download a study pgn vs. a chapter pgn the study pgn on your website has a drop down menu for each different chapter. It would be really interesting if you could have the option to merge all chapter files into one pgn file. I have a chapter for each variation of openings in lichess, but I want this to be in one large pgn file instead of separate pgns for each different line.

@ArneVogel, ERR_CONNECTION_RESET. Problem only with this site: from any device, just checked with pc.

@VelociraptorRex huh thats weird, I can connect to it and every downformeoreveryone site I test it on also says its up. Unfortunately I have no idea how to fix that for you.

@GoodChessMind
I implemented the enable/disable help button.

For 2. I see what you mean and I will look into incorporating this into the move chooser.

As for your merge feature request, that sounds though to implement and I don't know if thats something I would be able to do. I think there would be just to many edge cases with differing starting position, unreachable positions, etc for a sane merging process.
