ACWC Info

Hello all antichess fans and regular players of the community!

I am making this post to bring you an event that is happening in September, the Antichess World Championship (ACWC), to decide the world champion of Antichess.

If you are interested in the event, here is the information:

FORMAT
The format will be similar to the Crazyhouse World Championship (CWC): there will be a double elimination tournament and then the final 8 players will earn the right to play in the Candidates tournament. The Candidates will be a round robin event and the winner of the candidates will play the runner up in a death match for the crown.

MATCHES
In the elimination stage the matches will be composed by 10 games (colours will obviously switched every game, so that everyone gets the same number of white games and black games): a 5.5 score will grant the match victory. In case of a 5-5 tie, the match will continue and 2 additional games will be played until one player outscores the other after an even number of games.
In the Candidates the matches will be composed by 10 games as well, with the difference that a 5-5 tie will be registered as a tie and the players will split the point. Every match won in the Candidates will be worth 1 point, while every draw will be worth 0.5 and a loss will be worth 0. If the match points are tied in the standings, the game points will be counted.
In the Finals 30 games will be played, divided in 3 sessions of 10 games each.

TIME CONTROL
Time controls will be 2+5 in the elimination stage; while time controls for the Candidates and the Final can still be discussed depending on the players’ opinion, with some limits. We don't want the World Champion to be decided by mouse speed instead of understanding of the game, right?

SCHEDULE
Games will be played once a week ideally; of course there can be exceptions. The elimination stage should start in late September.

PARTICIPATION
If you would like to participate, respond to this post and we will accept you into the tourney.
Players will be accepted in the tournament by rating, but we'll still give some spots through an arena (same as for the Crazyhouse one lichess.org/tournament/GsOu2Tbe), so that everyone has a chance to take part. The number of spots given and players accepted will be decided depending on how many players are interested in the event.

I remind you that cheating will be not tolerated: cheat detection will be particularly strong and if someone tries to join with double accounts, they might find themselves banned from the event.

This being said, have fun and may the best win! ;)
I'm in aswell.

Got some questions about the schedule though:

Is it possible for the players themselves to come up with a time during which they will play their match, or are those times decided by someone else? (As in if someone were to create a schedule everyone had to follow)
Right, forgot to specify that players will have to arrange the matches themselves with their opponent
This is going to be intense. I can't wait for it :) I hope the good players like Nookie10, Flo (If he comes back) Ngb, Fins, Townes, and many more to join!

I am in. (I don't tally who is joining and who isn't, I just did the post >:p)
I'm in. I hope I am with a good internet connection during that time. For once beserkers won't necessarily win. :D
