Keeping Lichess Community Safe and Respectful

welcome to the internet, dude.

Worst phrase of all, dude. What do you convey with this? That you're all indifferent towards awful things happening, and that you agree with "internet" being a lawless barbaric medium? Is that what you would say right in my (or OP's) face?

To keep the community the safe we need more and especially BETTER moderators
I couldn’t agree with you more. The moderators need to be better trained especially concerning racism.

Do we want to see anyone step away because of negative experiences?

So, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Have you encountered or witnessed disrespectful behavior here? How did it make you feel? If you’ve reported issues, did you feel the response was adequate?

I’m hopeful that by talking about this openly, Make Lichess an even better place for all of us. Thanks for reading.

Yes, I stepped away from being a Lichess volunteer mod because of racism that I received from other moderators, admins, and owners while deciding issues. I ended up resigning as a volunteer mod almost two months ago because of the racist incident. I filed a complaint with Lichess. Lichess has yet to respond.

It is a systemic problem in Lichess.

I'm taking this with a grain of salt since it needs the full context with both parties' positions, but: I reported putinists, fundamentalists, antisemites, conspiracy theorists, sneerers against common sense, and other bigots over time. Hardly did they ever get what they deserve.

By my count only one Lichess mod has responded to this post. Lichess mods are quick to respond to cheating questions / statements, etc. in these forums. But there is a lackluster response when it comes to the safety of its users. I think this speaks volumes.

For the point of argument, let's say moderation is unresponsive. What do you mean by safety of its users?

As pointed out many times before: the fact that you don't see any apparent action in response to your report does not mean no action was taken.

That means: Evil users can run wild without consequences.

The fact that the aforementioned sorts of people can still make posts definitely means not enough action was taken.

'Evil users'. Dont be ridiculous. Please stop changing the definition of words. Noone is being made unsafe.

I for one cant wait for the day when our utopian dream is realised and there are no more evil users on Lichess to make us feel uncomfortable. Sorry, i meant unsafe! ;D
