I think Sicilian and qg. Sicillian beacause in caro kan, french you have space-ial disadvantage. in positions like that it is somtimes very hard to maintain equality. In e5 yeah you're playing the opening they are playing. Unless you're goated in smt like petrof. Aggainst d4 slav. It is very flexible. Although it may seem cramped but it is very possible to break through. I also like a6 lines in QGD. With white i play QG. You can surprise lower rated players with 1.Nf3. Also you probably can play the english if you play QG.

The Nimzo-Indian is as close to a perfect opening as Black gets.

"Building a repertoire ... we will take the idealized situation of someone starting from square one ... The first step is to think about your personal style. Do you prefer open, tactical positions or closed, strategic positions? Does an attack on your king make you nervous, or are you happy so long as you have a counter-attack? Do you prefer main lines, or something slightly offbeat? Next, look at the various openings available, and see which ones fit in with your personal style. ..." - GM John Nunn (1998)
