I think a good opening is an opening not giving you a bad position (here you shouldn’t consider positions worse than king’s gambit 2nd move) and opponents can easily blunder. But it depends also in the playstyle. Play a gambit of you are a tactical player and more openings like d4 defenses for positional players
The catalan is the best opening for white, the petroff is the best response to 1.e4, and the kings indian is even worse than the scandinavian.
