Does bullet chess make you better or worse?

yesz bullet is not nice because you get tittle from classical and in that case you need to think a lotttt.
i agree with the article, but one characteristic of bullet is i feel like you learn to play against your opponent more than against you opponents position, due to the timescramble. so that can be usefull too.

This is one of my daily struggles, convincing them that bullet is bad for their development because you play solely on instincts, and when you are at their level (1500+-) they don't have instincts to start with. It's a losing proposition: you waste time, and you don't get nothing in return but cheap thrills.

I've been playing bullet casually for a couple years and am at 2100+ rating in bullet on my good days. So I'm not sure how well this argument holds.

edit: To be clear, I started as a brand-new beginner and haven't studied outside of going through the initial training exercises and since then doing puzzles in Lichess. No books, no videos other than watching Magnus play blitz.

2150 is like top 5% of players and I did that purely by playing bullet. So to say "play solely on instincts" - how did I develop those instincts? I did it by playing bullet. I find puzzles to require too much work and not really be relevant to playing.

You have 55.576 games in bullet????????????? I don't think I'm ever gonna get that record... (After reading this article).

Yeah I guess that is a lot. I play it in-between (and sometimes during) meetings. When I can't sleep. That kind of stuff.
Well, but HyperBullet is boring. Is not bullet, it's more fast and the moves are random. Just try to win an HyperBullet but don't think in the time. It's so boring. The Stockfish are programmed for play with you searching moves. The stockfish level 1 is so bad in all the types of chess... except in hyperbullet. It always have a move and he will win you.

So I think Bullet mode is so good, but HyperBullet is so boring and bad
I think most of the people playing bullet know that it is not good in terms of improving but do it anyways, so not sure why you expect hate or sth. to this blog. People know it and hate themselves for playing it- in the end its just an addiction. :D
